Continuing on from last year, we will be looking at philosophy from an historical perspective. Following on from the overview of Classical Greek and Medieval philosophy, we will move on to the Renaissance period and what is called the Modern period of philosophy. We will be looking at the influence of the Scientific Revolution on philosophical thought and at the contribution of some early scientists such as Galileo. We will then move onto the philosopher widely regarded as the founder of the modern philosophical approach - Descartes. This will be followed by some other rationalists such as Spinoza and Leibniz. There will then be a brief look at the British empiricists, Locke, Berkeley and Hume.
